As the founding documents indicate, this website was to remain politics-free. We are all tired of politics, and my lingering conservative inclinations merely exacerbate the condition personally.
Further, I was looking forward to moving on with a different project and emphasis. As I considered this project, I determined that politics was a poor target for my attentions. Our current government is broken. The intelligent are attracted to finance and technology, and have abandoned politics to the dimmest of fakers, charlatans, knaves, goons, clowns, and con men. It is evil and ugly, and I was looking forward to talking about something else. I have a whole series of pieces in the queue, so to speak, following up on that Legomasters piece, which I quite liked, thank you. I would rather use those.
And, to borrow from John Mulaney, I am tired of the horse in the hospital. I am even more tired of the goats, chickens, and geese who peck at each other for the ever-shifting favor of the horse. It is pathetic. Truly, last week I would have rather eaten paint chips than have to reactivate with the horse in the hospital.
But here we are. Monday night, the horse broke out of the hospital with a trillion dollars of modern weaponry and threatened to turn it on America. A series of extremely evil goats and chickens then followed him as he desecrated holy ground and scripture by clawing at Christ’s words just minutes after this violent threat. This is sickening. If this was within your moral compass, I don’t really know what to tell you. I’d probably prefer not to talk to you at all.
And so, here we are. Our current crisis means there are things I feel duty-bound to say, and this site’s habeas corpus has been suspended. If you don’t want to read it, I don’t blame you at all. Go hug your kids and ride out the pandemic and pray and hope and love, because you better do it now with these psychos in charge.
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
2020 has been given to us, and we must see it through.
